Biography

Oskar Aichinger, born in 1956 in Vöcklabruck, Austria, is a pianist and composer known for his work in modern creative jazz. He grew up in Attnang-Puchheim and began his musical studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg from 1976 to 1983, focusing on music pedagogy, piano, and conducting. Aichinger's early career included leading various ensembles and serving as a ballet correpetitor at the Wiener Staatsoper from 1984 to 1986. He transitioned to jazz and improvisational music in 1990, collaborating with artists such as Hans Steiner and Walter Malli. His notable works include Elements of Poetry (1999) and Synapsis (2003). Aichinger's compositions span various genres, including chamber music and operas like Der entwendete Taler (2009) and Das Totenschiff (2018).
