Aichinger's early career included leading various ensembles and serving as a ballet correpetitor at the Wiener Staatsoper from 1984 to 1986. He transitioned to jazz and improvisational music in 1990, collaborating with artists such as Hans Steiner and Walter Malli. His notable works include Elements of Poetry (1999) and Synapsis (2003).
