Biography
Yajaira, a Chilean stoner rock group formed in Santiago in 1995, began their musical journey with founding members Samuel "Sam" Maquieira on guitar and vocals, Miguel "Comegato" Montenegró on bass and vocals, and Sebastián "Flecha" Arce on drums. The band initially focused on improvisational compositions during extensive rehearsals in the subterranean spaces of Estación Mapocho.
In 1998, Yajaira released their self-titled debut album independently, featuring eleven tracks that showcased their diverse influences from metal to punk and psychedelic rock. In 2000, they released Lento y Real, an eight-track album recorded live and distributed internationally by Freebird Records. Following the departure of Flecha, Christian McDonald from Hielo Negro took over drumming duties for their third album, La Ira De Dios (2002), which included a cover of Luis Alberto Spinetta's "Alteración Del Tiempo". The band embarked on European tours in 2002. In 2014, they released Antiguos Demonios
