XG (short for Xtraordinary Girls) is a Japanese girl group based in South Korea formed by label Xgalax, consisting of seven members: Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Juria, Cocona, Maya, and Harvey. In 2022, XG launched their social media presence with a short video titled Xgalx - The Beginning, subsequently releasing a series of teasers, including rap and vocal covers, before debuting on March 18 with their all English-language digital single "Tippy Toes" (2022) . They followed up with their second all English-language single "Mascara" (2022) which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, earning them the Rising Star Award at the MTV Video Music Awards in Japan and Debut of the Year at Prêmio Annal K4US Awards in Brazil. On November 17, they released a viral rap cypher video entitled Galz Xypher, and on January 25, 2023, their third all English-language single, "Shooting Star" appeared, peaking at number 26 in Japan as well as gaining international recognition, charting at number 32 in Hungary and 156 on the Billboard Global 200 chart. However, the most significant highlight of the year for XG was the unveiling of their inaugural EP named New DNA (2023), which shot straight to the top of the album charts in Japan, and featured tracks such as "Grl Gvng," "TGIF," "New Dance," and "Puppet Show". Their 2nd album AWE was released on November 8, 2024.
