Biography

Mina Myoi, mononymously known as Mina, is a Japanese singer and dancer based in South Korea. Born on March 24, 1997 in San Antonio, Texas, she grew up in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, training in ballet from a young age. Mina was scouted by JYP Entertainment while shopping with her mother in Osaka, moving to South Korea in 2014 to become a K-pop idol trainee. In 2015, she participated in the South Korean reality show Sixteen and announced as a member of K-pop trio Twice soon after. The group's debut EP The Story Begins became an instant hit with lead single "Like Ooh-Ahh" reaching over 100 million views online, with Twice becoming the first Korean girl group to earn a RIAJ Platinum certification. In Gallup Korea's annual music poll of 2019, Mina was voted the 20th most popular idol in South Korea, and after taking a short hiatus from the industry, Mina returned to the group the next year to record a further two albums. In 2023, she recorded the song "Bouquet" with fellow Twice members Momo and Sana, which was featured on the soundtrack to the Japanese television drama Liaison: Children's Heart Clinic, reaching number 28 on the Oricon charts.
