Biography

World of Oz was an English psychedelic pop band formed in Birmingham in January 1968 by Chris Evans, David Reay, David 'Kubie' Kubinec, and Tony Clarkson. They signed with Sparta Florida Music and relocated to London to record with Deram Records. Their debut single "The Muffin Man" was released on May 3, 1968, reaching the Top 10 in several European countries. The band's self-titled album The World of Oz was released in March 1969. Despite appearances on BBC2's Colour Me Pop and contributions to David Buckton's documentary The Same Trade As Mozart, subsequent releases failed to achieve commercial success, leading to the band's disbandment in 1969.
