Biography

Arzachel was an English psychedelic blues-rock band formed by Steve Hillage, Dave Stewart, Clive Brooks, and Mont Campbell, under the name Uriel in 1968. The group initially played covers of bands like Cream and Jimi Hendrix while attending the City of London School. After Hillage left for university, they began writing original material and changed their name to Egg in early 1969. However, they reunited as Arzachel to record their sole album Arzachel in June 1969, which featured the track "Metempsychosis". The band disbanded shortly after but the album became a collector's item. It was reissued on CD by Demon Records in 1994 and later as Arzachel Collectors Edition by Uriel in 2007.
