Willy Campero, born VÃctor Campero in San Pedro de Jujuy, Argentina, is an Argentine tropical singer associated with cumbia norteña, cuarteto, romantic cumbia, and bachata. Raised between Jujuy and Salta, he began singing folklore before entering tropical music as a teenager, first playing timbales with the group Tornado at 13 and later moving into lead vocals. He went on to perform with Karioma, Bandidos, and Grupo Bandy2, the group linked to one of his best-known early recordings, âHotel California.â After starting his solo career in the mid-2000s, Willy Campero released albums including Frente a Frente, Vuelve, and Una Mirada Diferente, mixing northern Argentine cumbia with romantic Latin pop covers, bachata touches, and dance-oriented stage arrangements. By the 2010s, he was performing with La Willy Band, a live setup that included musicians and dancers, and he continued working across Jujuy, Salta, Buenos Aires, and other northern Argentine circuits. In 2025, his appearance on the streaming program Un Poco de Ruido brought renewed attention to his catalog, leading to the live album WILLY CAMPERO / Zapada EN VIVO en UN POCO DE RUIDO ! and the EP Clásicos Del Amor (Nuevas Versiones), which revisited songs such as âHotel California,â âY Yo La Amo,â âFrente a Frente,â and âEl Perro El Gato y Yo.â That same year, he joined Cumbia Viva for Cumbia Viva Session #28 Willy Campero, followed in 2026 by Mini Session #1 with Cumbia Viva and Armando Studio Digital. His 2026 single âHotel California (Remix),â recorded with The La Planta and Explosión Cumbiera, extended his signature song into a broader South American cumbia context.
