Biography

Jambao, a cumbia group from Argentina, was formed in 1999. The band's leader and vocalist, Néstor Ameri, began his musical journey at age seven with his father, releasing the album "La ternura que canta con el alma" under the name Nestor y Nestor Jrs. In 1993, Néstor Ameri debuted in Tentación Bailable, a nightclub in General San Martín, Buenos Aires. The family later traveled to Peru for performances and recordings. Upon returning to Argentina, Néstor Ameri Sr. organized auditions to form the band Jambao, which released its debut album Sonidero 2000 in 1999. The group gained popularity with subsequent albums such as Se Parece a Ti (2007), and Yo No Sé Mañana (2010). Jambao achieved significant success, earning a gold record and becoming popular in Argentina and internationally, particularly in Peru, Chile, and Bolivia.
