Biography

The Willis Brothers were an American country music group from Oklahoma. Formed in the early 1930s, the original lineup included James “Guy” Willis, Charles “Skeeter” Willis, and Webb Cardwell. They began as the Oklahoma Wranglers, performing on local radio stations. After serving in World War II, they reunited in 1946 and joined the Grand Ole Opry. In 1958, they changed their name to The Willis Brothers. Their single “Give Me Forty Acres (To Turn This Rig Around)” (1964) reached number 9 on the country charts. After the deaths of Guy and Skeeter Willis, John Victor “Vic” Willis formed the Vic Willis Trio, which debuted on the Grand Ole Opry in November 1980. The trio performed on the Opry until Vic Willis's death in 1995.
