Larry Jon Wilson was an American country singer and guitarist born on 7 October 1940 in Swainsboro, Georgia. He achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized as outlaw country. His recording career began with the debut studio recording New Beginnings (1975), followed by the recordings Let Me Sing My Song to You (1976), Loose Change (1977), and The Sojourner (1979). Wilson appeared in the documentary film Heartworn Highways (1976), where he performed the track âOhoopee River Bottomlandâ (1976). He became inactive in the music industry in 1980 but resumed activity in the late 1980s, conducting tours beginning in 1989. His discography includes the studio recording Larry Jon Wilson (2008), his first recording in 30 years, which was later issued through the label Drag City. Wilson died on 21 June 2010 in Roanoke, Virginia.
