The Acacia Strain, an American metalcore / deathcore band, was founded in 2001 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The group initially consisted of high school friends Vincent Bennett (vocals), Christopher Daniele (guitar), and Ben Abert (drums), with Karrie Whitfield (bass), Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz (lead guitar), and Daniel Daponde (guitar) joining shortly after. They released their debut album ...And Life Is Very Long in 2002 via Devil's Head Records. The band's music is characterized by a blend of deathcore, metalcore, sludge, doom metal, and punk rock aesthetics. Notable albums include The Dead Walk (2006), Continent (2008), Wormwood (2010), and Death Is the Only Mortal (2012). Other Releases followed with different lineups, including Coma Witch (2014), Gravebloom (2017), and Slow Decay (2020). Since 2023 and the album Step Into the Light, the band consists of Bennett, Devin Shidaker (lead guitar), Griffin Landa (bass), Mike Mullholland (guitar), and Matt Guglielmo (drums). Their thirteeenth full-length, You Are Safe from God Here, was released in October 2025.
