White Noise, an English experimental electronic music band, was formed in London in 1968 by David Vorhaus, a classical bass player with a background in physics and electronic engineering, after attending a lecture by Delia Derbyshire of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, with Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson joining him in the group. White Noise released their debut album An Electric Storm on Island Records in 1969, utilizing tape manipulation techniques and the EMS Synthi VCS3 synthesizer. Following the departure of Derbyshire and Hodgson, Vorhaus continued the project and released several albums including White Noise III - Re-Entry (1980). In 2011, Mike Painter joined Vorhaus and they toured as White Noise, and in 2021, they released Lightning Strikes Twice to mark the fiftieth anniversary of An Electric Storm.
