Biography

Wanda Sá is a bossa nova singer and guitarist from Brazil. At the age of 13 she had guitar lessons with bossa nova pioneer Roberto Menescal, making her album debut with 'Vagamente' in 1964, when she was 19. The album included one of her most loved ballads 'Inutil Paisagem'. She appeared on the album 'Brasil '65' with the Sergio Mendes Trio. Her next solo album was 'Softly!' in 1965. In 1969 she married songwriter Edu Lobo and she took time away from music to be with her family during this time, making a comeback in the late '80s. Her later albums include 'Brasileiras' with Celia Vaz in 1994, 'Amazon River' in 2000, 'Wanda Sá Com Joao Donato' in 2004 and 'Domingo Azul Do Mar' in 2005. In 2000 she also recorded the album 'Wanda Sá & Bossa Tres' with Luis Carlos Vinhas, Tiao Neto and Joao Cortez. She toured the US in 1999, returning again in 2011. One of her most popular recordings is 'Chega de Saudade', featuring Roberto Menescal and featured on the 2005 album 'Eu e a Musica'.
