W.H. Lung are a UK-based indie-rock band known for their eclectic mix of post-punk, krautrock, and electronic influences. Formed in Manchester in 2016, the band quickly gained attention for their soaring sound and synth-led melodies. The band consists of Joe Evans (vocals, guitar), Tom Sharkey (bass), Hannah Pearce (synthesizer), Chris Mulligan (bass/synths) and Alex Mercer Main (drummer). Initially starting as a side project for members of various other Manchester bands, W.H. Lung quickly became their primary focus. They made their mark with their debut album Incidental Music (2019), which drew comparisons to bands like Tame Impala, Talking Heads, and Can, thanks to its heady mix of infectious basslines, shimmering guitars, and cosmic synths. In 2021, W.H. Lung released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Vanities, which built on the foundation of their debut with a more refined and expansive sound. The album's blend of krautrock-inspired grooves, 1980s synth-pop textures, and introspective lyrics earned them critical acclaim, further establishing their place in the UK indie scene. Known for their captivating live performances, W.H. Lung have toured extensively across the UK and Europe, building a dedicated fanbase drawn to their distinctive sound and magnetic stage presence. With a growing reputation for pushing the boundaries of indie and experimental rock, W.H. Lung released their third album Every Inch of Earth Pulsates in 2024.
