Biography

Vunk, a Romanian pop rock band formed in 1994, initially performed under the name Vank. After a hiatus following the departure of Alex Belciu and Victor Cenușă in 2008, remaining members Cornel Ilie (vocals, guitar, piano) and Nicu Sârghea (drums) reinvented the band as Vunk in 2009 with Gabi Maga (guitar) and Bogdan Crucianu (bass). Their first album under the new name, Ca Pe Vremuri, was released in 2010. The band achieved notable success with hits like "Dau Alarma" and "Pleaca," a collaboration with Antonia that topped the charts for several weeks. In 2012, they launched their album Nu Scapă Nimeni (Fără Emoții) at Sala Polivalenta. Vunk continued to release albums including Hituri Si Mituri (2015), Extrovertit (2017), and Domnul Portocaliu Și Mașina Timpului (2019). In 2024, Nicu Sârghea passed away.
