Biography

Volcano Suns was an American alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, United States, formed in 1984 by Peter Prescott. The band's initial lineup included Gary Waleik and Steve Michener, who left before the release of their first album, The Bright Orange Years (1985). Jeff Weigand on bass guitar and Jon Williams on guitar joined for this debut release, followed by All-Night Lotus Party (1986), both on Homestead Records. In 1987, Bob Weston and Chuck Hahn replaced Weigand and Williams respectively for Bumper Crop (1987). The band moved to SST Records in 1988 for their fourth release, Farced (1988), and released Thing of Beauty (1989), featuring David Kleiler on guitar. Their final album, Career in Rock (1991), was released on Quarterstick Records. Volcano Suns disbanded in 1991. A live album, Old Pain(t) (2014), was released later.
