Biography

VOF de Kunst was founded in 1983 in Tilburg, Netherlands, as a pop group. Singer Nol Havens is the band’s central figure. Under the name The Art Company, the group toured Europe. Their style ranges from pop to children’s music. Notable albums include Maandagmorgen 6:30 (1983, No. 33 on the Dutch charts), Dikkertje Dap – Bekende TV-Liedjes van Annie M.G. Schmidt (1991, No. 24), De Kunst Live (No. 45), and Sinterklaasfeest met V.O.F. De Kunst (1993, No. 91). Successful singles include “Suzanne” (1983, No. 3 on the Dutch charts, No. 13 in Belgium), “Oude Liefde Roest Niet” (1984, No. 16) and “Een Kopje Koffie” (1987, No. 5). Further albums such as Onbeperkt Houdbaar (1987) and Liedjes uit Sesamstraat (1995) followed. In the 1990s, the band focused primarily on children’s songs and successfully released albums such as De Griezel CD (1994) and Monsterhits (1998).
