Vitamin Z, a British band from England, was formed in 1982 by vocalist Geoff Barradale and bassist Nick Lockwood. The group's debut single "Burning Flame" marked their initial breakthrough, released in 1984. Their debut album Rites of Passage followed in 1985 under Geffen Records, featuring the prominent single "Burning Flame", which reached Number 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Number 27 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. The band's other notable hits include "Every Time That I See You" (UK Number 78) and "Hi Hi Friend". In 1985, they released another single, "Circus Ring (We Scream About)". Vitamin Z was known for their new wave and rock music styles, which resonated with audiences during the mid-1980s. The band's music was characterized by its energetic rhythms and Barradale's distinctive vocals. In 1987, Geoff Barradale contributed to the Alan Parsons Project album Gaudi, singing lead vocals on its lead single "Standing on Higher Ground". This collaboration showcased Barradale's versatility as a vocalist and expanded his reach beyond Vitamin Z. The band released their second album Sharp Stone Rain in 1989, which included singles like "Burn for You" and "Can't Live Without You". Despite their musical output, Vitamin Z struggled to maintain the same level of chart success as their debut single. The band disbanded in 1998. Following his music career, Geoff Barradale became the manager for the Arctic Monkeys, continuing his involvement in the music industry from a different perspective.
