Biography

Véronique Chalot, born on January 16, 1950, in Le Havre, France, was medieval folk music singer and multi-instrumentalist. During her adolescence spent in London, she discovered and performed folk standards. She began her career by performing in cities such as Le Havre, Rouen, and Paris before moving to Florence in 1974. There, she was signed by the label Folkstudio, which encouraged her to record several albums of French medieval folk music. Her notable releases include La Chanson de Provence (1975) and J’ai vu le loup (1978). After concluding her solo career, Chalot returned to France, settling in Ariège where she founded the ensemble Volubilis and the duo Véziana with Brigitte Grenet. She passed away on July 3, 2021.
