Biography

Vennaskond are an Estonian punk rock and post-punk band from Tallinn formed in 1984. The ensemble was established by vocalist Tõnu Trubetsky, also known as Tony Blackplait, who has remained the sole constant member since its inception. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style incorporating anarchist themes and for their extensive international touring across Europe, the United States, and India. They released their debut studio album, Ltn. Schmidt'i pojad (1991), followed by the studio recording Rockipiraadid (1992). The ensemble achieved professional recognition for the track “Insener Garini hüperboloid” (1993), which reached Number 1 on the national charts. The song received further international attention when the band Metallica performed a cover of the track during a 2019 concert in Tartu. Their recording career includes the studio recordings Usk. Lootus. Armastus. (1993) and Anarhia agentuur (2011). After a period of inactivity starting in 2006, the ensemble resumed activity in 2007.
