Biography

Japanese alternative rock band VELTPUNCH was formed in 1997 in Japan, with founding members Hidenori Naganuma (vocals, guitar), Aiko Nakajima (bass, vocals), and Taisuke Endo (drums). The group emerged from a local music scene that favored experimental rock and quickly attracted attention for its energetic live performances. Their breakthrough came with the single "Crawl", released on 21 May 2008, which peaked at Number 36 on the Oricon single charts and remained on the chart for seven weeks; the track also served as the opening theme for the anime Nabari no Ou. VELTPUNCH released When We Drive (2002), Question No.13 (2004), A Huge Mistake (2006), White Album (2007), Paint Your Life Grey (2008), BLACK ALBUM (2010), His Strange Fighting Pose (2011), and THE NEWEST JOKE (2016). The band performed internationally, including a 2000 appearance at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and maintained a steady presence on the Japanese rock circuit.
