Biography

Born in Blanc-Mesnil (Seine-Saint-Denis) on July 15, 1992, under the name Valentin Le Du, Vald began rapping at the age of 17. It was his music video for the song "Autiste" that made him a household name in 2014. The rapper is also the author of two mixtapes and then a first EP, released in 2014 under the title NQNT (acronym for "ni queue ni tête"), which ranked 66th in the charts. A year later, while his reputation was built around black humor, provocation and second-degree, he released the second installment, logically named NQNT 2 (No. 11), opening with a sample of a statement by writer Michel Houellebecq, saying he "calmly accepts his superiority and dominance" over the new literary season. Vald releases his first studio album, Agartha (#2 in 2017), launched by three singles: "Eurotrap" (#118), "Megadose" and "Petite chatte". A year later, the rapper returned with a plain white album, XEU (No. 1), preceded by the singles "Trophée" (No. 37) and "Désaccordé" (No. 1), amid duets with Sirius and Sofiane. Following the mixtape NQNT33 (No. 8 in 2018), the best-selling album Ce Monde Est Cruel, composed and produced by Seezy, is released in 2019. It features collaborations with SCH and Maes. In 2020, after launching his Echelon Music label, under which the compilation Echelon, Vol. 1 was released, Vald teamed up with Heuss l'Enfoiré for the tandem album Horizon Vertical (No. 20). In 2022, the rapper achieved further success with the #1 album V, featuring the duet "Péon" with Orelsan (#1) and "Anunnaki", whose video was censored for its violence. Vald returns after a three-year hiatus with Pandémonium (2025), produced by BBP and Seezy. Released in four different versions, each with an unreleased bonus track, the opus reached No. 1 in the sales charts, with "Gauche droite" as its lead single. From this album, Vald produced a hardcore electronic follow-up, Pandemonium Reloaded, with DJs and producers Vladimir Cauchemar and ToDieFor. The same year saw the release of Magnificat, a pop and electronic album. Buoyed by the singles "Abysses " and "Blauwburgval", it reached No. 23 in the French SNEP chart.
