Biography

The University of Rochester YellowJackets, an all-male collegiate a cappella group, were founded in 1956 by Dr. Ward Woodbury Jr., Director of Music for the University's River Campus, as a subset of the Men's Glee Club. The group began performing at campus functions and gradually transitioned from piano-accompanied tunes to a cappella music by 1981. They gained national recognition with their appearance on season 3 of NBC's The Sing-Off in 2011, finishing in seventh place. Notable performances include a rendition of "Just a Dream" against The Collective and their swan song performance of "Tubthumping".
