Biography
Ultra, a British pop band formed in Buckinghamshire in the mid-1990s, consisted of James Hearn (vocals), Michael Harwood (guitar and vocals), Jon O'Mahony (drums and vocals), and Nick Keynes (bass and vocals). The group initially performed under various names before settling on Ultra, inspired by the Depeche Mode album. Their demo tape caught the attention of Ian Stanley, leading to a deal with Warner's EastWest label in 1998. That year, they released their debut single "Say You Do", which reached number 11 in the UK, followed by "Say It Once" at number 16 and "The Right Time" at number 28. Their fourth single, "Rescue Me", reached number 8, becoming their only British top 10 hit. In February 1999, Ultra's self-titled debut album landed at number 37 on the UK Albums Chart. The band gained significant popularity in Southeast Asia and Italy, but disbanded in 2001 after losing their record contract. In 2005, the original members reunited to release their second studio album, The Sun Shines Brighter, before parting ways again the following year.
