Biography
Ultimate Painting was an English alternative rock band formed in London in 2014. The group consisted of co-frontmen Jack Cooper and James Hoare, with a rotating lineup of rhythm sections. Named after a painting created by the Drop City art community in Colorado during the late 1960s, Ultimate Painting released their self-titled debut album in 2014, under Trouble in Mind Records. Their follow-up albums, Green Lanes (2015) and Dusk (2016), further solidified their presence in the UK alternative rock scene. In October 2017, the band signed to Bella Union and announced they were working on an album at James Hoare's home studio. However, on February 12, 2018, Jack Cooper announced that Ultimate Painting had disbanded due to irreconcilable differences between him and James Hoare. The previously planned fourth album, Up!, was subsequently canceled along with the supporting UK tour.
