Fredro Starr, born Fred Lee Scruggs Jr. on April 18, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York, is an American rapper and actor. He started as a breakdancer and street poet, inspired by films like Beat Street and Krush Groove. In 1986, Fredro Starr began performing under the name Kool Fredro at local jams in Queens. He co-founded the hardcore rap group Onyx with Big DS and Suavé in 1988. The group signed with Profile Records in 1990 and released their debut single "Ah, And We Do It Like This." In 1993, Onyx released their breakthrough album Bacdafucup, which went multi-platinum due to the success of the single "Slam." Fredro Starr's solo career began in 2000 with the mixtape "Firestarr" which was hosted and mixed by DJ Clue. His debut solo album Firestarr was released in 2001.
