Biography

VeggieTales (formed 1993, in Chicago) is an American Christian CGI-animated multimedia franchise. Created by Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki under Big Idea Entertainment, the series debuted in 1993 with the direct-to-video release "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?". Featuring anthropomorphic characters led by Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, the project established a reputation for retelling biblical stories. The recording career included over 45 albums, such as the GMA Dove Award-winning VeggieTales Worship Songs (2006). The franchise released the feature films Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie (2002) and The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie (2008). Television productions featured VeggieTales on TV! (2006–2009), VeggieTales in the House (2014–2016), and The VeggieTales Show (2019–2022). By 2019, the franchise sold 7 million music albums and reached 235 million streams. In 2024, Big Idea announced the film LarryBoy for a 2026 release.
