Biography
Los Cinco Latinos, an Argentinean musical group formed in 1957, was led by Estela Raval and her husband Ricardo Romero. The group initially included Héctor Buonsanti, Mariano Grisiglione, and Jorge Francisco Pataro, who was later replaced by Carlos Antimori. They adopted the doo-wop style of The Platters and began their career with a single release on Columbia in 1957 featuring "Amor joven" and "Abran las ventanas". Their debut album, Maravilloso, Maravilloso (1958), was accompanied by Waldo de los RÃos' orchestra and included hits like "Recordándote", which reached number 2 on the DiscomanÃa Mundial chart. The group achieved international success with performances in Europe and the Americas, including appearances at the Olympia Theatre in Paris and the Ed Sullivan Show. Notable albums include DÃmelo tú (1959) and Los Fabulosos Cinco Latinos (1962). Los Cinco Latinos received the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award at the 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.
