Tommy Kent, born Guntram Kühbeck on 21 August 1942 in Munich, was a German rock 'n' roll and pop singer and actor. He received vocal training from an early age. To support his architecture studies, he performed as a singer in various Munich venues. His first recordings appeared in 1958 under pseudonyms such as Jonny Keller and as part of the Achim-Beier-Singers. In 1958, producer Bert Kaempfert recorded his cover version of "Susie Darlin'" for Polydor, marking his breakthrough as Tommy Kent. The single reached number four on the German charts in June 1959. He continued to release singles and EPs throughout the early 1960s, including "Ich brauche dich dazu" and "Sweet Baby Sweet". He was signed to Ariola from 1962 to 1964. His repertoire included cover versions of hits by artists like Elvis Presley and Cliff Richard, as well as original compositions by Bert Kaempfert and Peter Moesser. Kent also appeared in various schlager films and television shows. In the early 1970s, he released two more singles under his Tommy Kent moniker for Intercord. He passed away in September 2022.
