Biography
Tolgahan ÃoÄulu, born in 1978 in Ankara, Turkey, is a Turkish classical guitarist and designer of the adjustable microtonal guitar. He began playing the guitar at age twelve and studied with notable instructors including Ayhan Akkaya and Ricardo Moyano between 1997 and 2004. ÃoÄulu graduated from BoÄaziçi University's Business Administration Department in 2001 and earned both Master of Music and PhD degrees on classical guitar from Istanbul Technical Universityâs Center for Advanced Studies in Music. ÃoÄulu founded the classical guitar duo Duoist with Erhan Birol in 2007. He won the Musical Instrument Competition at Georgia Tech and the jury award at the Donizetti Classical Music Awards. His performances have taken him to festivals and universities in 28 countries.
