Biography

Tiddas is an Australian folk trio formed in 1990 in Victoria, Australia. The group consists of the musicians Amy Saunders, Lou Bennett, and Sally Dastey. They were revealed in the early 1990s as backing vocalists for the band Djaambi before the musician Ruby Hunter gave them the name Tiddas. Their debut EP, Inside My Kitchen (1992), received two ARIA Award nominations. Their discography includes the gold-certified debut album Sing About Life (1993), which received the ARIA Award for Best Indigenous Release. Their recordings include the self-titled album Tiddas (1996) and the recording Lethal by the Kilo (1998). The band released the live recording Show Us Ya Tiddas (1999) and performed a national farewell tour. The ensemble became inactive in 2000 before resuming activity in 2018 for a tour celebrating the release of the Archie Roach album Dancing with My Spirit. In 2019, they were inducted into the National Indigenous Music Awards Hall of Fame.
