Thriving Ivory, formed in the Sanâ¯Francisco Bay area, emerged from a collective of musicians who began collaborating in the early 2000s, with founding members Scottâ¯Jason and Claytonâ¯Stroope contributing vocals and songwriting; the groupâs early work included the Secret Life EP released on 2004â01â01 and the Thriving Ivory EP in 2003. Their breakthrough came with the single "Angels on the Moon", released on 2008â03â04, which propelled the selfâtitled debut album Thriving Ivory to numberâ¯1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and later reached numberâ¯28 on the US Popâ¯100; the track also achieved Gold certification in the United States in early 2010 after selling over 500,000 copies. The band followed with the album Through Yourself & Back Again on 2010â09â14, coâproduced with Greggâ¯Wattenberg and Markâ¯Endert, and continued touring and media appearances, including performances on Jimmyâ¯Kimmel Live! and Theâ¯Rachaelâ¯Ray Show. After a hiatus from 2010 to 2016, the founding members pursued separate projects: Scottâ¯Jason launched a solo project Scottâ¯Jason Through A Telescope and engaged in charitable work, while Claytonâ¯Stroope released the EP City Wolf and collaborated with various publishing firms; the bandâs relationship with WindâUp Records concluded in 2016, and no further releases were issued before the groupâs dissolution.
