Thilo Wagner, born on January 8, 1965 in Brühl, Germany, is a German jazz pianist. He began playing the piano at age five and received classical training for twelve years. At eighteen, he formed his first trio. In 1987, after completing his music studies, Wagner became active in the Frankfurt jazz scene, collaborating with artists like Gustl Mayer. Throughout the 1990s, he toured extensively with notable figures such as Scott Hamilton and Benny Waters. He also performed with various ensembles, including Alexanderâs Swingtime Band and Thilo Berg Big Band. In 1994, Wagner joined Emil Mangelsdorff's quartet and became a member of the Allotria Jazzband and Bassface Swing Trio. His discography includes Just in Time (1996), Finally (2002) with Wagner/Mörike/Beck, and Gems (2022). In 1998, he won the soloist prize at the Jazz à Vienne Festival.
