Biography

The Yummy Fur was an indie rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, formed in 1992 by lead singer and guitarist John McKeown. The band's name came from Chester Brown's comic book Yummy Fur. Their early releases included the EPs "Kodak Nancy Europe" and "Music By Walt Disney But Played By Yuri Gagarin", both released in 1995. They gained recognition with their debut album, Night Club, in 1996, followed by Sexy World in 1998. Notable singles included "Policeman" and "Stereo Girls". The band was praised by BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, recording two Peel Sessions in 1995 and 1998. In 1997, drummer Paul Thomson, who later became a founding member of Franz Ferdinand, joined the band. The band stopped playing in 1999, and in 2010, they reunited for a short tour in the US.
