Biography

The Sports were an Australian rock group formed in 1976, featuring Stephen Cummings on lead vocals and Robert Glover on bass guitar. Their debut recording, the extended play Fair Game, was released in 1977 on Zac Records and gained notable attention from the New Musical Express. The band's first studio album, Reckless, was issued in May 1978 on Mushroom Records and included the single "Boys! (What Did The Detective Say?)". Later that year, Martin Armiger joined on guitar and vocals. In February 1979, their second album, Don't Throw Stones, was released ahead of a UK tour supporting Graham Parker & the Rumour. This album reached number 9 on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart and featured the top 40 singles "Who Listens to the Radio" and "Don't Throw Stones". The Sports disbanded in 1981, after the release their final album, Sondra. In October 2010, Don't Throw Stones was listed in the book 100 Best Australian Albums.
