Welsh alt-rock quartet the Royston Club were formed in Wrexham, North Wales by Tom Faithfull (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Ben Matthias (lead guitar and main songwriter), Dave Tute (bass) and Sam Jones (drums). After starting out in 2017, the group dropped their debut single, "Shawshank," two years later and a debut EP, The State I'm In, the following year. Another EP, Lying Here, Wasting Away, surfaced in 2021, with "Old Man's Knees" arriving in 2022. The Royston Club marked 2023 with a string of singles, including "Blisters", and "Shallow Tragedy", which heralded the release of their full-length debut, Shaking Hips & Crashing Cars, which made it into the UK Top 20. The group released their sophomore effort, Songs For The Spine, in 2025.
