The Revels were an American instrumental rock band from San Luis Obispo, California. Formed in the mid-to-late 1950s as a high school band, they initially went by Gil Serna & The Rockets before becoming The Revels in 1959. Their early career saw them playing locally and releasing singles such as "Six Pak" and "Vesuvius / Church Key". The latter became one of their most famous tracks. In 1960, they released "Intoxica / Comanche", which was later featured in the soundtracks of The Exiles (1961) and Pulp Fiction (1994). The band's sole album, Revels on a Rampage, was produced by Anthony John Hilder with assistance from Howard Bowers and Norman Knowles. The Revels are considered a 'pre-surf' band, predating the 1961-65 era of surf music but achieving success during that period. They disbanded in the late 1960s, leaving behind a notable legacy in the surf instrumental rock genre.
