The Rave-Ups are an American rock group founded in 1979 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by Jimmer Podrasky, Michael Kaniecki, George Carter, and T.J. Junco at Carnegie Mellon University. After relocating to Los Angeles, California, the group gained significant attention. Their first EP, Class Tramp (1983), sold out all 3,000 copies produced. The Rave-Ups' breakthrough came with their 1985 album Town + Country, which included the college radio hit "Positively Lost Me". This song became a cult classic and was featured in the movie Pretty in Pink. The band's appearance in the film, along with their performance at the MTV "Pretty In Pink" Movie Premiere Special, further boosted their popularity. Despite legal battles that hindered their progress, The Rave-Ups released the album The Book of Your Regrets in 1988, followed by Chance in 1990. The group unofficially disbanded in 1992, but fully reunited later and released the album Tomorrow in 2022.
