The Partland Brothers are a Canadian pop rock ensemble from Colgan, Ontario established in 1979. The group was founded by the brothers Chris and G.P. Partland and later included their brother Robin Partland. After moving to Toronto they performed as Oliver Heavyside and achieved professional recognition for winning the Q107 Homegrown contest (1982). Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Electric Honey (1986) which reached number 146 on the Billboard 200. They achieved professional recognition for the track âSoul Cityâ (1986) which reached number 25 in Canada and number 27 in the United States. The group received a Juno Award nomination for Most Promising New Group (1987) and appeared on the television programs American Bandstand and The Late Show with Arsenio Hall. During their career they toured with the ensembles The Moody Blues and The Beach Boys. Their discography includes the studio recordings Between Worlds (1990) and Part Land, Part Water (1993). They achieved professional recognition for the tracks âHonest Manâ (1990) which reached number 24 in Canada and âLift Me Upâ (1993) which reached number 38. After being relatively inactive for a number of years the ensemble performed at a Ronnie Hawkins tribute (2002) and resumed touring. They released the studio recording This Is Who I Am (2009) and the compilation Every Now... and Again (2010).
