Biography

The Paper Cranes, a Canadian indie pop band from Victoria, British Columbia, was formed in January 2005 by Ryan McCullagh, James Watson, John Quissy, and Mark Vondrasek. The group initially recorded five demo songs, including early versions of "I'll Love You Until My Veins Explode" and "Out on the Horse Tracks". In the summer of 2005, they signed with Unfamiliar Records founded by Greg Ipp. Miranda Roach joined as keyboard player that autumn, and the band released their debut EP Veins in 2006. Following lineup changes, The Paper Cranes recorded their first full-length album, Halcyon Days, in 2007 and released it in February 2008. In August 2009, they released their second full-length album, Chivalry's Dead. Notable achievements include being featured in a Canadian television commercial for the Nissan Rogue in 2008 and winning Victoria’s Favorite Band at the 2009 Monday Magazine M Awards.
