Biography
The Ordinary Boys, formed in Worthing, West Sussex, United Kingdom in 2002, began as a punkâinfluenced pop band led by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Samuel Preston. Their early work, including the single "Maybe Someday" in 2004, established a local following. In 2004 the group released their debut album Over the Counter Culture under BâUnique, which spawned the track "Over the Counter Culture" that appeared in the soundtrack for Burnout 3: Takedown. The 2005 album Brassbound featured the single "Boys Will Be Boys", which was reâissued in 2006 following Prestonâs appearance on Celebrity Big Brother and reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart and number 1 on the UK Download Chart. Subsequent releases included the album Life Will Be the Death of Me (2006), Seaside (2006), and How to Get Everything You Ever Wanted in Ten Easy Steps (2006), the latter yielding the topâten single "I Luv U". After a split announced in July 2008, the band reunited in 2011 for a UK tour, and in 2015 released the selfâtitled album The Ordinary Boys on their own imprint Treat Yourself, peaking at number 27 on the UK Albums Chart. The Ordinary Boys have toured internationally, supported acts such as Morrissey and The Who, and contributed songs to films and television, marking their sustained presence in the UK music scene. In 2025, they collaborated with Olly Murs for the seasonal single "Christmas Starts Tonight", which reached number 100 on the Singles Sales chart.
