Biography
The Mandrake Memorial, an American psych/progressive rock band from Philadelphia, formed in late 1967. The group was assembled by producer Larry Schreiber for Manny Rubin's club, The Trauma, and initially consisted of Michael Kac on guitar and keyboards, Kim King on guitar, J. Kevin Lally on drums, and Randy Monaco on bass. They incorporated an electronic harpsichord into their repertoire. In 1968, they released their self-titled debut album The Mandrake Memorial. Their second LP, Medium, was completed in early 1969. After Kac's departure, the band recorded an acoustic album with Shel Talmy that remained unreleased until its release as 3 Part Inventions in 2016. The group disbanded in 1970 following the release of their final single "Something In The Air" and the departure of Lally.
