Biography

The Lonely Forest was an American indie rock band from Anacortes, Washington. Formed in 2005, the group initially gained recognition by winning EMP's under-21 Sound Off! competition. Their debut EP, Regicide, was self-released in September 2006, produced by Jack Endino. The band released their first full-length album, Nuclear Winter, in August 2007, followed by We Sing the Body Electric! in April 2009 through Burning Building Recordings. In March 2011, they released Arrows, which included the song "We Sing in Time" that won NPR’s 2011 Best New Artist award and reached the Number 1 spot for the People's Choice Countdown. The Lonely Forest performed at notable festivals such as Bonnaroo (2012), Sasquatch (2010, 2014), and Bumbershoot (2006, 2009, 2011, 2014). Their music received support from Seattle radio station KEXP, and their videos debuted on MTV. In May 2014, the band announced an indefinite hiatus.
