Biography

The La De Daâs were a New Zealand rock band formed in 1963 as the Mergers in Te AtatÅ« Peninsula by Kevin Borich, Brett Neilsen, and Trevor Wilson. After Phil Key joined on rhythm guitar and vocals, they transitioned to garage rock. Their debut single "Little Girl" was released in April 1965. In February 1966, their cover of "How is the Air Up There?" reached number 4 on New Zealand Listener's Hit Parade. The band achieved chart success with singles like "On Top of the World" (1966) and "Hey! Baby" (1967). In mid-1968 they relocated to Australia, touring extensively across multiple countries and the band released the concept album The Happy Prince in 1969. The band disbanded in 1975.
