Biography
The Human Instinct, a New Zealand rock band active since the late 1960s, emerged from the pop band The Four Fours. Maurice Greer joined the band and helped them secure their biggest hit, "Go Go"/"Donât Print My Memoirs", before they traveled to the UK and changed their name to The Human Instinct. In 1967, they signed with Mercury Records and released singles like "Rich Man". After disbanding briefly, Greer reformed the group in New Zealand with guitarist Billy Te Kahika (Billy TK) and bassist Peter Barton. They released their first blues-oriented album, Burning Up Years, in 1969, followed by Stoned Guitar in 1970 and Pins In It in 1971. The band transitioned to a country rock sound with albums like Snatmin Cuthin? (1972) and The Hustler (1974). After a hiatus, Greer reformed the band in 2002, leading to performances at international festivals and the release of Midnight Sun in 2010.
