The Funky Knuckles, a six-member fusion band, was founded in Dallas, Texas, around 2010. The original trio consisted of keyboardist and singer Caleb McCampbell, bassist Wes Stephenson, and drummer Cedric Moore. Their breakthrough came with weekly performances at the Tini Bar in Dallas, where they added guitarist Phill Aelony, saxophonist Ben Bohorquez, trumpeter Evan Weiss, and percussionist Frank Moka to their lineup. The band released their debut album As of Lately in 2012, through GroundUp Music. Their second album, Meta-Musica, reached number 1 on the iTunes Jazz charts in 2014. Subsequent releases included New Birth (2016), Delicious (2019), and The Way It Is (2023).
