The Fucking Champs, a three-piece rock band from San Francisco, California, was formed in Santa Cruz in the early 1990s. Initially known as The Champs, they added "Fucking" to their name to avoid confusion with a band from the late 1950s. Their music is characterized by heavy metal sound, shifting time signatures, guitar harmonies, and plentiful rhythm, with most songs being instrumental. The band released their debut double LP III in 1997 under Frenetic USA. They followed this with IV (2000) and V (2002), both on Drag City. Notable collaborations include albums with Trans Am as TransChamps in Double Exposure (2001) and as The Fucking Am in Gold (2004). In 2007, they released their album VI. The band's discography also includes compilations like Greatest Hits (2003) and a remix of Justice's "Civilization" in 2011.
