Biography
The Faraway Places, an American indie rock band, originated in Boston, Massachusetts. Key members included Chris Colthart on guitar and vocals, Donna Coppola on keyboard and vocals, Scott Barber on bass, Eric Bartels on drums, Jeff Wright on bass, and Chris Phillips on drums. Initially formed as Solar Saturday, the group released their self-titled EP Solar Saturday in 2000. After relocating to Los Angeles and changing their name, the Faraway Places released their debut full-length album Unfocus on It in 2003, which garnered significant attention and lead to a European distribution deal with Bella Union. The album drew comparisons to XTC and the Elephant 6 collective. Their follow-up album, Out of the Rain, the Thunder & the Lightning, was released in 2009.
