The Dylans were an English rock group formed in Sheffield in 1990 by former 1,000â¯Violins guitarist Colin Gregory, who switched to bass, alongside guitarist Jim Rodger and guitarist Andy Curtis. The bandâs breakthrough came with the single "Godlike" released in January 1991 through Beggars Banquetâs subsidiary Situationâ¯Two, reaching number 5 on the UK Indie Chart. In October 1991 they issued their selfâtitled debut album The Dylans under Situationâ¯Two, followed by the single "Lemon Afternoon" the same year. After a series of lineup changes, the group signed to Atlantic Records and released Spirit Finger on 18â¯Aprilâ¯1993, accompanied by singles "Mary Quant in Blue" and "Grudge"; the album failed to achieve commercial success, leading to the bandâs split later that year. The Dylansâ brief career left a modest imprint on the early 1990s indie scene.
