Biography

The Duhks are a Canadian folk fusion band from Winnipeg that formed in 2002. The founding members included Leonard Podolak on banjo, Jessee Havey on lead vocals, Tania Elizabeth on fiddle, and Jordan McConnell on guitar. Their music is a blend of traditional folk styles with soul, gospel, and zydeco. Their debut studio album, Your Daughters & Your Sons, (2003) received a Juno Award nomination. They followed this with the eponymous album The Duhks in 2005, produced by Béla Fleck, which won the Juno Award for Best Roots & Traditional Album by a Group. Their third album, Migrations, (2006) featured the track “Heaven's My Home”, which received a Grammy Award nomination. In 2007, Sarah Dugas replaced Havey as the lead singer and Christian Dugas joined them as a percussionist. This lineup released the album Fast Paced World in 2008. After several hiatuses and further lineup changes, the ensemble released the album Beyond the Blue in 2014. The original members reunited for a 20th anniversary performance in 2022.
